This got me so fired up I feel like I need to save it so I can keep coming back when I need a little boost 😂 congratulations on your well deserved growth, I’m so excited to see what you do next 🤍✨
Thanks for this! I haven't written in AGES (pretty much since high school) and I was stuck when attempting to write my first post. I'm glad that I pushed past the discomfort - like you mentioned - and that the post brought value to at least one person.
Love this. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I'm just getting started on Substack and the advice on reframing the stories we tell ourselves is gold! I'm also going to writing a lot more notes x
i totally needed this today. not afraid to post my most ~vulnerable self~ but have been feeling shitty about the lack of engagement compared to other accounts (who have been on here longer, where i’ve only been here 2 weeks lol). also def have not found my voice yet- absolutely love what you wrote about that.
I’m right here with you! Comparison always gets me down - I actually wrote a little post about it in my article “Sunday slow down #1”. Lmk if those tips help. In short, though, You are worthy and unique and your story needs to be heard! 🩷 thank you for reading and commenting!
Wow Jessie, I found you and this post. I’m in need of this perspective shift towards writing notes. And your writing style just kept me hooked till the end.
Omg! Thank you so much for reading and sharing your kind words. It really means so much to me 🩷 I’m glad this helped and I’m excited to see you thrive on substack!
I’ve been wanting to get into using notes but there’s always a phasing starting any new social media where you sort of just don’t get it yet?? I’m trying to get out of that atm
Thanks for this article! This post and your account have inspired me to start posting more vulnerable content on notes even though -- I am just starting out, don't have a following and honestly don't yet know what exactly my plan is for my future writing. <3
Aw Jen thank you so much for sharing your story. I am honored that you feel inspired by my writing! I am building as I go, too, so I'm right here with you!! I'm so glad you're going to share more and I can't wait to see what you write/create. We got this!! <3 sending you love!!
This is definitely the boost I needed to read today. I’m very new to the world of Substack, and after contemplating starting the journey for a while, I finally made the jump. After one month since beginning my Substack, it has been a fun experience so far. It can be a bit intimidating to expose my thoughts and ideas to the world, but fun at the same time as I try to find my voice and get more confident in my writing. 🤍
Taylor!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings. I relate!! Welcome to Substack. I'm so glad you're here and I can't wait to see your continued success!
Enjoyed this so much and saved it! I’ve been writing on Substack for two years and still sometimes wonder what my niche is. I just started posting on Notes recently though, and that’s definitely been fun. I try to write something every day and it now occurs to me that maybe I should post those pieces instead of just leaving them in my phone 🤔 Thank you!
Ah thanks so much for sharing your journey, Kate! Congrats on 2 years - that's huge. You inspire me!! YES, I've been pushing myself to post everything (even if its just an excerpt of my complete work) instead of letting ideas sit as drafts and it's been fun & fruitful. I can't wait to see you more on notes! Thanks for reading & commenting xoxo
Omg what a TREAT to read this!! Thank you so much for sharing—I literally didn’t even lurk for two years, I just wrote in a Google doc for no one 🤣 I’m SO happy I took the Substack leap, and I’m keeping fun my North Star. Substack is a place to just vibe and I’m honestly obsessed. YAY!!! 🤗💕
Girl!!! Not the google doc!! hahah I'm dying. I kind of did the same, but in my journal, notes, and voice notes app. I'm so glad we took the leap too - Substack is the best!
Well, didn’t this post just find me on a day I needed to hear it! Off I go to write my first note so I actually *do something* with this little nudge in the right direction 💛

Ahhh!!! Thank you so much Gemma!! I'm so excited for our slumber party soon ;)
So glad I found your Substack page! Honest gems sprinkled everywhere! Just what the doctor ordered! Thank you ma’am!
Omg!! Yayyyy thank you for the kind words!! I’m so glad you enjoyed my writing!

Helll ya!!! And same :) I’m not a pro writer and haven’t written in a long time. Shaking off the rust takes time but is so worth it! You’ve got this!!

You’ve got this! Don’t be afraid to learn by trial and error :) no one is keeping score!
Thank you for this. I have been on here for a few months and still haven’t posted anything.
Ofcourse!! Thank you for reading and sharing your experience. I can’t wait to see what you write! I’m cheering you on!

Thank you! Amazing news - go off Nikki!!
Yes yes yes!!! Experiment, play, pivot, adjust all the way!!! No such thing as failure, only taking action, or not taking action. 💛💛💛
Sooooo well said!! We are just playing and having fun!!

It’s like you scooped out every doubt and “unknown” about Substack from my head and wrote about how to get through them in one post ❤️
This is such a great read. Plus, Damian always makes me laugh, and your flip from Damian to Janis was so clever!
